Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, School District No. 62 (51品茶) is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in BC. The District operates in five municipalities: Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, 51品茶 and the Highlands and acknowledges the traditional territories of the Coast Salish: T'Sou-ke Nation and Scia'new Nation and Nuu-chah-nulth: Pacheedaht Nation. We also recognize some of our schools reside on the traditional territory of Esquimalt Nation and Songhees Nation. Payroll TechnicianPermanent/Full-time (40 hrs per week, 2080 hours annually)In this highly confidential and specialized role, the Payroll Technician will be responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely planning and delivery of multiple payrolls. The Payroll Technician will work in collaboration with Human Resources and Finance to innovate and improve current processes, while responding to inquiries and requests from employees and internal/external stakeholders We are looking for candidates that: Strive for Personal Excellence Practice a Growth Mindset Think Critically and Creatively Effectively Communicate and Collaborate Build Relationships Foster InterconnectednessModel Leadership Excellence Encourage Employee Growth Use a Systems Thinking Approach Provide Strategic Direction Cultivate CommunityIf you possess the above qualities, please submit a cover letter and resume outlining your education and experience in the following areas: Grade 12 and Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification, additional courses in Accounting or related area, or equivalent combination of training and experience; Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in payroll production including experience in a highly complex computerized system in a unionized environment; Demonstrated knowledge of payroll reporting requirements, pension and benefit plan administration, payroll legislation, regulations, acts, union contracts and SD62 policies and procedures; Proven team building skills and collaborative working relationships. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, both written and oral; Ability in exercising discretion in determining the importance and/or urgency of correspondence, telephone calls, and the accounting and payroll schedule; Respects the confidentiality of all matters related to the position; Extensive experience in a modern complex payroll/HRIS system, including demonstrated ability to implement, develop and test new systems, functionality and upgrades; Extensive knowledge of MS Office software, with a focus on Excel, as well as proficiency in a Windows environment; Preference will be given to applicants with Atrieve (PowerSchool) software experience.
